Gosport's Famous Bed Race
The annual Gosport Lazy Days festival brings back the beloved bed race, a tradition with a surprisingly unknown origin. Even Kip Seidenstucker, the man who's been in charge of the races for over 25 years, can't pinpoint the exact when, how, or why they began.
But one thing's for sure: the history doesn't matter when you're hurtling down Main Street on a rickety old bed, cheering with your team. It's all about the fun, the competition, and the camaraderie of working together to cross the finish line first.
"This is one of those traditions we knew we just had to keep going," says Seidenstucker, a former racer himself. So, dust off your tennis shoes, grab your friends, and get ready to experience the legendary Gosport Lazy Days bed race!
There is no entry fee to enter, just grab a group of friends, and come join in on the fun:
